PRODUCTION – ACTION

The FILM

Skills Commentary

Slideshow

As the sound designer, I used multiple audio sources to develop the film. I used the audio from the camera itself, a boom mic, and produced background music using Soundtrap. I also filmed room tone in the areas that my group filmed in to finish the final product.

POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION

21st Century Skills

Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)

I showed creativity by contributing to the creating of the background music.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I gave ideas on how exactly to shoot the film.

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

I used a video that showed me how to operate the piano and play specific sounds.

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

I now know how to use a piano and play simple tunes.

Reactions to the Final Version

“I like how the music cut off when the government knocked on the door.” – Merja

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

S(imple) – Film made sense and was easy to follow.

U(nexpected) – The moving body on the floor was completely ignored even though that is the reason the government was at the scene.

E(motional) – The whole film including dialogue, ignoring certain characters, and the censored bar all evoked an emotion of humor.

S(tories) – Film had a simple plot that was easily understandable.

What I Learned and Problems I Solved

I learned how to record and create sound during this film production. Moving forward into future films, I would like to do sound design again to learn more and get better at sound. This experience changed my way of thinking when it comes to sound. I now realize it is harder than it looks and I look forward into doing sound again.
